what animal should i study in zoology?
i want to become a zoologist but can not decide what animal to study so i would like use to help me this is my list of the animals i want to study
1. insects (what type of bug)
2. arachnids
3. monkeys
4. gorillas apes etc
5. reptiles alligators etc
they were in random order so what do you think are the most interesting and fun to study for zoology i love animals i Will pick best answer
O.K. but to get to the point where your going to study a particular animal and not just getting up to speed with what has already been done by those before you.
1. Insects; opens the study field of Entomology which is a field more varied than Zoology and has many sub specializations.
2. Arachnids; this encompasses a subsection of Entomology called Arachnology. Similarly diverse, most of the work is focussed upon taxonomy however (identification and classification).
3 & 4. Essentially Primatology, a well studied field, most work is on how we relate our behaviours to these primates. If you plan on doing something in this field Psychology will help you a lot.
5. To study reptiles be ready to get into warm climates and lots of outdoor work. Most of the work is on the evolution of reptiles. Palaeontology (+Geology) and the dinosaurs to birds issue will bring you to Ornithology.
