Nocturnal Infrared
Are heat lamps safe to use for long periods of time and how do I set it up?
I purchased a nocturnal infrared heat lamp for my hermit crabs. I've put it on and it's made the glass it was touching boiling hot. I've moved it so it's just hanging over the top of the tank, pointing down (if that makes sense). I was just wondering if something's going to overheat and catch on fire, or if it's safe to hang it like I do. I don't know how else i'm meant to do it. Thanks for any advice
I agree a Rheostat control works great for controlling your temperature. Also, depending on the temperature you need in your tank, and the thermalcline you need in your cage, you could try using a smaller wattage of bulb if available.
