my aqurium Water is a cloudy green color. I have 2 white koi and 6 fancy tailed gold fish 1 gold fish?
we have removed rocks replaced filters and have an aqua plant inside, there is no film only dark green water
Green water is the result of too much light and/or nutrients. In this case an overload of nutrients is likely the cause. Your nitrates are also probably high which is unhealthy and inhibits fish growth.
-Removing the rocks and changing the filters was not the best idea. You removed a Lot of beneficial bacteria at once which can essentially backfire on you.
Unless you have an aquarium that holds about 1000 gallons of water, your tank is very much overstocked and unable to handle the waste produced by so many fish. Both koi and goldfish have a very large bioload so because of this and their adult lengths, they require a lot of space and heavy filtration.
-Your koi and comet goldfish should be kept in ponds of at least 1000 gallons with a minimum depth of 3 feet.
-The fancy goldfish are not ideal tankmates for quick fish like koi and comets. The six fancy goldfish alone require about 70 gallons and heavy filtration.
