Aquarium Lighting - which kind? Bought new fish tank, which type of lighting do I need?
I have 6 small tropical fish which were in a large tank (which was a gift). However, last night the tank started leaking slightly around the seems, it's a few years old. Today I went to the pet store to buy a new one. I bought a ClearSeal CS119 Petite Hexagon Aquarium. I asked the shop assistant if this was suitable for tropical fish, which she said yes as long as a heater is fitted. However, I have opened the tank and there is no light (fitting/bulb) included (which I assumed it was). I now have a tank, which the instructions say I should be able to attach the lighting. I have no idea how to do this. Which light do I need to buy? The tank comes with a condensation tray and a soft plastic hood. Instructions say bracket is provided for lighting - I cannot see it. There is a groove/section which looks as if it's for wires. How do I find the correct light and how do I connect it - does it just sight inside the hood? When I buy a light how will it be attached?
my advice to you would be to go back to the store you bought it from ,with the make of the tank,and ask for a the strip light that fits in your tank.
if they don't sell them i would then go to a aquatic shop and ask them for a strip light,i have marine fish and my strip light went today i went to the aquatic shop,with the make of my tank and purchased a new one.i would ask some expert advice from the shop,mine has two pins which fit either end and slot in,then i put the protective cover back on ,my tank is a jewel tank.
