Total cost for setting up a marine aquarium?
I am interested in setting up a marine aquarium (probably a 55 gallon) Not including the price of the tank, I would like an estimate on how much it will cost me to set up the tank.
I spent 1600 dollars on a 75 gallon entire set up. So the people who say thousands bought there stuff from a traveling sales man or just plain dont know what their talking about. Heres my set up.
75 gallon tank
Stand
Seaclone protein skimmer
Uv Steralizer
Extra 40 watt hood light
Fluval 400 pump(LFS loser sold me this when i was new to the hobby dont buy a canister)
A marineland emporer 400 biowheel hang on filter(to fix the problem of no air breathing bacteria colonies)
60 pounds of live sand
60 pounds of live rock
2 pumps
heater
bucket siphon net test kits food ect...
And then the live stock
Tang
Groupers
Princess parrot fish
3 sharks
3 eels
foxface
2 lionfish
2 bicolor angels
ect...
And yes i did start with a Lot of these fish DONT DO WHAT I DID. LFS salesmen really dont give a crap how you do just so long as they make a buck. Do your research first. Even with my mistakes for trusting people I still made it out with 1600. Also for those who will try to say I dont know what im talking about my tanks doing great all the fish are small and in a year while they are still small theyll be moving into a 300 gallon tank well some will others are staying in the 75. Either way the biggest thing is make a plan and be patient. If you rush in youll spend more then you need to like i did.
