I just put some live rock in my aquarium when should i turn the lights on?

I just put some live rock in my saltwater fishtank can i wait 3 days before i turn any of the lights on or should i turn the lights on now. If so what type of lights should i put in and for how long?

You can turn the lights on right away. Most people choose to run their lights 10-12 hours a day. Lighting will affect your pH, so leaving the lights off for an extended amount of time will lower your pH.

The type of lighting depends on whether you are keeping corals and other photosynthetic invertebrates or not. If you are just keeping fish and live rock, a couple of full-spectrum bulbs would be sufficient. If you are setting up a reef tank, you will need to look into a T-5 or Metal Halide Fixture.
