is it safe to buy reptiles( snakes to be particular) over the internet ?
i want to buy a black and white cali kingsnake or a "banana" kingsnake
there are 2 petshops in my neighborhood that have them but i feel like they are a bit overpriced my friend bought a tangerine Honduran milksnake today it was a pretty big one about 3 feet and he paid almost 260$ for it and when i looked online they are for about 80$ the kingsnakes that im looking for are for about 150-170$
so is it safe to but then online?? like how are they shipped??
also is this website a good one to get a snake??

this store is in Long Island NY im from Queens NYC so i can actually go there but it will take a long time since i dont have a car
I routinely ship my snakes all over the country and most of my sales are done via internet. Snakes can only be shipped next day air via Delta Dash or Fed Ex. No other carrier will accept snakes. If the company or person you are getting the snake from is shipping any other way, you need to not do it as there is a risk of having the animal seized during shipping. I use a styrofoam box with cardboard around that. The snake is placed in a deli cup or snake bag depending upon the size of the animal. The cup or bag is taped shut. Heat packs or cool packs are added to the box depending upon the weather and the animal is then packed in shredded paper to protect them from banging around. Big Apple is a good reptile supplier. I don't know how they ship live animals, I've only bought supplies from them. Big Apple gets their snakes from other breeders. You'd be better off getting one from a breeder instead as you would be able to get the feed and shed records from the breeder and have some idea of when the snake was hatched.
