how do i keep humidity in my terrarium? ?
I have a 10gal tank with a screen top that i got from pet smart. I have to tree frogs in it a Louisiana tree frog and a Cuban tree frog. I use a 60 watt daylight blue reptile bulb made by Zoo med. how do i keep the humidity in my tank? and do you suggest that i add another fog if so what kind and what kind of stuff should I get? thanks
I work for Petco and agree with Noota. If you plan on adding ANYTHING be it decor, a bigger bowl, or another frog - you need to invest in a bigger Habitat!
Humidity is caused by heat and moisture. So, you could either buy some type of Water fall (http://www.petco.com/product/108700/Exo-Terra-Medium-Reptile-Terrarium-Waterfall.aspx) or a mister that will mist and add water to your tank based on how you have the settings (http://www.petco.com/product/105899/Zoo-Med-Habba-Mist.aspx). The best substrate to use that holds in moisture and heat is Eco Earth coconut fiber (http://www.petco.com/product/10813/Zoo-Med-Eco-Earth-Compressed-Coconut-Fiber-Expandable-Substrate.aspx).
I would advise not to cover that much of the lid (the 3/4 as previousl suggested by someone). If you do choose to do this, I would only cover half of it and I would just lay a towl or something similar down. You have to be careful with plastic wraps, foils, and such as they can release a toxin into the air because of the heat that can be harfl to your frogs.
