Using a Siphon to Clean your Fish Tank

Water siphons are specifically designed to make cleaning your fish tanks an easier process. No more getting soaked when you attempt to clean it single-handedly. A water siphon can do the work for you. Do it yourself at home and invest in a siphon to clean your aquarium with less effort and more time to spare. Follow these steps for basic instructions.

Prepare the are by placing a towel down on the floor beside your dirty fish tank. Proceed to remove the fish and décor and place them in a smaller tank or bucket filled with water. Remove the fish hood.
If you have a sink in the same room as the tank, perfect. If not, position the large bucket of water on top of the towel near your aquarium.
get your siphon ready and position the large end down toward your feet. Pyt the tubing end into the bucket or in your sink making sure the tube stays secure in place.
Slip the other end of the siphon into your aquarium water. Slant your hand and quickly move the siphon up and down until it works to flow down through the tube and into the bucket on its own.
Move the siphon down to the gravel area and swiftly move it around to catch all the nasty filth. If the plastic area of the siphon gets too clogged, move around the rocks and let the gravel fall. It will not fully digest any of the gravel because its passage is blocked off. Once your bucket or sink is full, gently remove the siphon out of the water, place it in the water, and empty your bucket. Continue this process until the aquarium is clear of water.
Next you will want to scrub the tank’s glass with a rag or a sponge to get rid of all the buildup. Do not use soap though, any type of soap is toxic to fish.
With the help of some products clean your dirty aquarium plants and structures. You may want to completely rinse your gravel as well, and reposition.
Fill the fish tank back up with water. Once it’s full you want to add some water conditioners such as AquaSafe or Easy Balance. Give the tank some time to adjust and simply dump your fish back into your clean tank.

And there you have it. A water siphon is a great tool to have if you want to clean your tank easily and at a fast pace. I would recommend all aquarium owners to invest in one.
