Gopher Snakes and Eggs?

I got home today and found my single gopher snake had begun to lay a clutch. I just got her about a month ago, so I am not sure if she has ever been around a male. My questions are: How often will she lay eggs? How long will she be off her food before and after this on average ? She did shed prior, and had not eaten for almost a month now. Prior to this she ate readily. I understand that there is a very low chance of the eggs being viable, but that if she had been bred in the past, she could have retained semen. How likely and how long after can this happen?

Clutch, 12-24 eggs which are stuck together by a glue-like substance, forming a single mass. 8 to 10inchs at hatching. she probably did mate before you got her so hopefully youll have baby snakes in a few months. she will guard her eggs too.
