What make a hole saw a good hole saw?

i.e. good runout, life, teeth, etc?

Good, holesaw .... Interesting question, I am a Industrial electrician and we prefer Lenox or Milwaukee brands.
These are great for drilling any of a variety of metals,wood, composite materials ETC.
If you want to make them last alittle cutting oil will help.

Do not try to drill Stainless Steel with a standard hole saw you will be there the rest of your life. lol

As for with wood they work but it is time consuming and just plain annoying, if you are drilling wood that isn't finished buy some paddle bits or selfeeding bits, work quicker and easier (but to prettier).

If you are doing finish work they do a decent job just be careful when you reach the bottom.

So to answer your question, a good hole saw has a removeable mandrel (center part with the pilot bit), And by preference of every electrician i have met Lenox or Milwaukee or Irwin. There are some other decent brands but these are some of the best I have used.
