Can anyone identify a snake-like annimal I found by a lake in Maryland?
Some friends and I found a terrifying looking creature in some tall grasses by a lake in MD. It looked like a snake with two rows of spikes going down it's back. It was grey with a pointed face. It was very thick around, maybe 5 in. in diameter, but only about a foot and a half long. I wish we'd taken a picture, but we just wanted to get the heck out of there.
small/young male iguana maybe (iguanas are regularly released by morons who buy one without realizing how much they cost to keep how big they get and how much time they take up)
