rainforest snakes
rainforest snakes
Need to find the name of a book; I have a breif description?
I'm pretty sure it's a book, but it could be a movie. Or perhaps just a crazy dream I had, but I'm almost sure it's true. It's an old memory. There is a book about a guy who is in the amazon or some similar rainforest. He is cutting down a tree and it's very tiring; he only has an axe. He passes out or falls asleep and the animals start talking to him. I know there is a snake and like a tiger; lots of rainforest-living animals. They tell him of how they need the trees to sustain life and ect. They convince him not to cut the tree down and when he gets up he doesn't cut it down. Now I'm pretty sure it's a book and there are pictures in color. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The book is called, The Great Kapok Tree, illustrated by Lynne Cherry. Published by Harcourt Brace & Co. 1990.
ISBN no. is 015200520X...Inquire at a book store, they should be able to get it for you, though the local libraries usually carry this one. The animals tell the woodcutter about their life in the rainforest and by doing so, change his mind about cutting down the Great Kapok tree. Grades 2-5, but this is a story for anyone interested in saving our planet.
