red iguana reptile
I have several reptiles,...moving to australia?
I currently own a green iguana, green basilisk, desert iguana, frilled lizard, savannah monitor, monkey-tailed skink, red eyed crocodile skink, mali uromastyx, eastern diamondback rattlesnake(not sure if thats legal here in PA), gaboon viper (not sure if thats legal in PA either but the person who had it didn't have the time for it so he offered it to me) and a couple beardies, but I am seriously thinking of moving to australia but whether or not I can take them with me determines whether I actually go or not. Is it illegal to bring any of these into the country? Are any legal at all under any circumstance there?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
I live in the U.S. but I've visited Australia several times and have associated with animal people over there.
The Aussies are "especially" protective of their environment and their wildlife, as they should be. They are very proud of their country and will protect it to the end. As a result, they will NOT allow you to bring in any NON-INDIGENOUS animals into their beautiful country, especially venomous ones.
It looks like to me that you're quit caught up in Reptiles. That's an awful Lot to take care of and I hope you know what you're doing. You MUST be very careful around your Eastern Diamondback, but especially careful with your Gaboon Viper. It is hard for me to understand how you got a Gaboon Viper into a private collection in the United States.
I took care of a King Cobra once that had been in a private collection. It bit its owner and the guy died on the way to the hospital in less than 9 minutes. That Gaboon Viper can inject an awful lot of venom so I hope you take extra precautions with it, and I hope you have a supply of anti-venom for it and the Rattlesnake on hand. If you do not, you are seriously risking your life. Is the possession of those two snakes WORTH risking your very life over?
