Are reptile expo's a good idea to buy a reptile from?
If you have had experience at one, I would like to know what they are all about. I plan on buying a uromastyx and chameleon from one this fall.
It's a "buyer beware" situation. Some of these reptile suppliers come in from other cities/states to sell their abundance of animals, and provide no guarantee with your purchase, and no way to contact them, if the animal is ill, or etc.
Look for a local supplier, preferably one who hands out care flyers with their reptiles, and gives good care instructions, when you are asking.
If you buy supplies at the expo, always be sure to check the date of expiration before you purchase it.
BE prepared to resist impulse buying, and stay focused on the animal you went there to obtain.
