Flex whatt reptile heating Question?
ok well im starting a leopered gecko rack and well flex whatt seems to be the beat thing on the market but i don't really under stand how to use it and also when hooking it up to a dimer iwill be using 9 differnt sections well i need 9 dimers or do they hook up to gether so that you will only need one any basicly what im asking is will i need 9 differnt dimers for each tank on my rack do the sections hook together and do i need a differnt dimmer for each thing
You can wire them in series, which will allow you to connect all 9 pieces to one dimmer. You'll basically have one wire going to each lead of each strip, along with another wire connected to the same spot going to the next strip. At the following link (where I buy my Flexwatt), there are links you can click to showing the wiring of Flexwatt:

Here's another good link: http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/flexwire.shtml
A dimmer is the same thing as a rheostat, which will work, but you have to control it manually rather than a thermostat which controls the heat automatically and is obviously better. Since Flexwatt is a pretty low wattage, a single thermostat can easily control all 9 pieces of Flexwatt if hooked in series. I use one thermostat per rack system with great success.
