What do you think about crocodiles, alligators, and caymans?
a. What is the financial responsibility of owning one of these reptiles?
b. What is the smallest, most domestic species that you'd recommend for beginners?
c. How dangerous are they really?
d. What kind of spacial requirements are there, and what is best to keep them in?
e. What kind of physical requirements would the owner have to have?
I have to start off by saying I don't keep nor have I ever kept any crocodilians (no crocs, gators or camians) ever. Not because they haven't peaked my interest over the years - I actually take my kids to visit a group of alligators at a rescue center a few hours from me every summer and have photos of them with alligators going back several years.
I've looked into the possibilities and have found that despite 30 years of experience with reptiles, working to rehab a variety of wildlife and maintaining more than 2 dozen turtles, crocodilians are too much for me to handle in each way that you have listed and more.
This is one of those cases where I know enough to know that I don't know enough to give you good solid answers with enough detail. I do however have a link that will help you in every aspect you've listed and more.
