Aquarium lighting?
Ok, I am not lighting expert, I am runnning 360 watts 6500K CF lights on my 90 gallon freshwater planted tank. Now they have these sprial CF lights that are 6500K you can get a 23 watt that is equal in brightness or wattage as a 100 watt light. Can I replace my CF lights with these and still get the same lighting? Though it would only be 92 watts with 4 it should still be as bright as 400 watts right? Or does this not work the same for fish tank lighting.
Are you running 360 watt 6500K CF AQUARIUM or HOUSEHOLD lighting? There's a big difference. Aquarium 6500K lighting will usually have a better spectrum range, while household usually won't have that good of a spectrum. Also, what type of CF do you have? Square Pin or Straight Pin?
The spiral CF lights are equivalent to a 100 watt INCANDESCENT bulb, not general 100 watts. It still puts out 23 watts, but at the strength of a 100-watt incandescent bulb (incandescent isn't that strong). I'd also assume that these spiral bulbs are household, so they won't put out a good spectrum.
I'd just stick with the lighting you have now.
