Would adding a little ocean salt to a viquarium hurt fire belly toads?
I have crabs in the tank and it seems that they need a little salt to thrive. Would this bother the toads?
Even if it is only a little, like a teaspoon.
ummm yes, they are fresh Water animals the salt will dry them out and be absorbed by there skin and possibly lead to things like heart damage and liver failure
you'll need to put the crabs in there own brackish water set-up and keep the toads in the fresh water set-up
while small amounts (a teaspoon can be quite alot depending on how much water u have) probably wont kill them (or at least kill them out right will probably drop there life expectancy several years) it wont be doing any good, amphibians are very sensitive to things like water quality, PH levels and any chemicals in the water.
