Breeder Net Netting Issue!?

I recently bought a breeder net online and I got it yesterday. I put the breeder net into my fish tank and then tried to capture as many guppy fry that I could find. The breeder net took to long to come and in the end my guppies gave birth to their fry. Once I put the guppies into the breeder net they were able to escape through the netting. They are just the right size to escape. I am pretty sure that the netting is stretched or something. I just want to know how to shrink the netting hole space. Is there anyway. Making it smaller is my only choice. I just want it to constrict. If I can't do that what else can I do? This is the breeder net that I got. That's not the person that i bought it from but it is the same breeder net.

The netting on that looks way too big, and I really doubt that it will shrink at all. I'm not sure what it's for, but the guppy fry would have to grow a bit before you could hope to keep them contained in there. You can get a regular square breeder net at Petsmart for $5 that has very fine mesh that they won't be able to escape from.

A separate tank to place the mothers in to give birth is always best, but if that isn't an option it may be best to let her have them in the tank and then net them out afterwards. If you still want to put the female in the breeder, timing is essential. If you put her in too early she'll be stuck there for days and days, which isn't good with such a small space. If you put her in too late (right before or even while she is giving birth) you could cause a great deal of stress that might kill her. You'll have to keep a sharp eye on them and learn how to tell when they are getting very close.
