Why do some people keep 'hot' , meaning venomous snakes, as pets?

I just wonder why someone would want to, unless they are really experienced in how to deal with them safely or are a researcher who uses them for scientific purposes or manufacturing antivenins..As much as I think many of them are beautiful(especially the cobras and here in the US, rattlesnakes)...I would not want to risk being bitten by one. I'm happy seeing them on television and in zoos.

Hot snakes are fascinating animals, and they can be amazing to observe. The fact is, there are people who have the experience necessary to keep these animals safely. Unfortunately, there are also a Lot of people who think that they have the necessary experience, who are only interested in keeping an animal because it's dangerous. Those are the people who get killed. As far as taking the risk, that's got to be a personal decision. Myself, even if I had the training (which I don't), I wouldn't be willing to put others at risk for the sake of my hobby. I'd hate to see some paramedic get hurt trying to save me after I screwed up and got bitten.
