Rear Fanged Snakes In California?
Ok i live in california and i was recently looking into rear fanged snaked like Mangroves and Asian Vine Snakes ect.
now i read that they are mildly venomous, not enough to kill thou
can i own one in california or do i need a venomous reptile liscense
There is no license required to own something like a hognose snake or false Water cobras. You can even take wild venomous snakes with nothing more than a fishing license. Most rear fanged snakes are considered not as dangerous to humans and other venomous species, but mostly because many can't deliver the venom effectively. There's an ongoing argument about the strength of false water cobra venom. Some say it is only mildly venomous, other studies say it is as strong as many of the crotalus species of rattlesnake. Hognose snake's venom is capable of producing a reaction if they are allowed to chew on you. I've seen documented photographs from someone who was bitten by one. For the most part, they are considered safe pets.
